Enjoy an afternoon with author Mary Cook at the Blackburn Hamlet Community Centre
It would seem, for those of us who have lived in the area going on 50 years, that Ottawa Valley's author and broadcaster Mary Cook has been here with us sharing our experiences and gathering material to weave into wonderful stories. A long-time CBC Radio broadcaster, Mary Cook was co-host of 'Radio Noon' for many years and continues to be a regular guest on 'Fresh Air,' recorded at CBC studios in Toronto. Mary writes and tells her stories in such a way that we all feel we have experienced the same thing somewhere along the way ourselves, making her a favourite with audiences everywhere. Her stories in EMC are collectables and her many books are part of libraries across the country.
This October, Blackburn Hamlet has the great honour of having Mary drop in to share some of her stories in person. St. Mary the Virgin Anglican church is hosting Mary at the Blackburn Community Center on Sunday, Oct. 3rd at 2 pm. This event has been relocated from the little church on the Navan Road to accommodate the number of people expected. Free-will offerings will be accepted on behalf of local charities. Refreshments will be served by the Anglican Church women following the presentation. All are invited to experience first hand Mary Cook’s story telling talents.
